Modular timber structure during complete renovation

During renovation of the St. Karli school building, the modular timber structure offers children and teachers comfortable indoor conditions for learning and playing. As the full-service contractor, we were responsible for construction of the temporary school building with Minergie-P Eco certification.

The St. Karli school complex, built in 1911, is being completely renovated and extended. To ensure lessons are not interrupted during the two-year construction phase, we planned and built a three-storey temporary school made of timber modules. The building covers a total area of 2,170 m2, with room for 12 classrooms and three subject-specific rooms, a staff room and other rooms for building services. The facade of the temporary school building is made of pre-greyed spruce/fir.

When the pupils and teachers move into the new St. Karli school complex in 2023, the modular timber building will be reused as another temporary school for the Dorf school complex in the Lucerne district.
