The silo and brine plant in Mainz consists of glass-fibre reinforced GRP tanks, a 100m3 silo for salt storage and a 50m3 brine storage tank. The Quanto 24 salt dissolving-mixing plant is used for brine production.

Special mention should be made of the fresh water supply, which is routed in a heatable housing so that it cannot freeze. Furthermore, an integrated blowdown system is used for brine recovery. It removes the residual particles present in the rock salt and filters the brine into a separate collection tank. With the help of a pump, the clean brine is then returned to the circuit.
